How to Cook the Perfect Steak

I'm super proud of how this turned out!! The past couple times I've cooked steak it hasn't been the best (just ask my husband lol). But this time I feel like I really nailed it! This super simple recipe and method will give you a perfect, medium rare cook and tons of flavor.

Ingredients

Don't be fooled by this list! This is really all you need.

  • 4 top sirloin steaks

  • 4 cloves of garlic (smashed with your knife, no need to remove the skin)

  • 2 stalks of fresh rosemary (whole, not chopped)

  • 3 tablespoons of butter

  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil

  • Salt and pepper to season your steak

And that's it! Seriously. These ingredients together add such a wonderful flavor.

Directions

  1. Take your steaks out to get to room temperature 30-60 minutes before you plan to cook it. This allows for a more even cook,

  2. Season your steaks generously with salt and pepper. Be brave! Do a good amount of salt and pepper on each side.

  3. Heat a cast iron skillet to medium-high heat (a normal pan works okay, but the cast iron provides a harder sear and more flavor). Allow pan to come to temperature for about 5 minutes before adding the steak.

  4. Add the 1 tablespoon of oil to the pan and heat for about 1 minute.

  5. Add your steaks to the pan (I cooked two at a time) and cook for one minute, then flip. Add in your butter, smashed garlic, and whole rosemary stalks.

  6. Continue flipping the steaks every minute (this will ensure your steaks are cooked evenly), for 6-7 minutes, or until they've reached an internal temperature between 130-140 degrees Fahrenheit, or medium rare. If you like your steak medium, cook for 9-10 minutes.

  7. As you're cooking the steaks, you can tilt your pan and spoon over the butter, garlic and rosemary on top. This will give the steaks an added flavor infusion and keep them juicy!

  8. Remove the steaks from the pan and pour the butter, garlic and rosemary on top. Allow to rest for 5 minutes and enjoy!

There you have it, how to cook the perfect steak! I hope you enjoyed this quick recipe!
